Bittersweet Blessings

I know without doubt that early this morning my sweet Savior spoke the words "well done my good and faithful servant" to my sister-in-law....I have no more words at the present.....laneannmiller.blogspot.com

In lieu of flowers we are requesting that people support what Lane Ann gave her life to - fulfilling the Great Commission of Christ by making disciples. Please send memorial gifts to Disciple The Nations, Inc. P.O. Box 157 Trenton, Ky 42286

An angel on earth....

Many of you have read my post about my brother, Tim, and his sweet bride, Lane Ann. She has been battling colon/liver cancer since October. They were suppose to help with my two youngest boys while I was in Uganda to bring Josie Love home. Lane Ann was having pain in her abdomen and so they were not able to help. As the pain continued they decided to check it out and during a lower CT scan they discovered many tumors. They seemed to be shrinking in the beginning, but it is a REAL aggressive kind of cancer, and have returned with a vengeance. They left last friday for a week at the beach. We just received a call from my brother telling us that they are coming home, headed to Vanderbilt, asking if we could we help with his kiddos.

Tim and LaneAnn have taught Mike and I what it means to TRULY walk by faith. At times, we have thought that they had lost their minds. Tim was a pastor of a church and the Lord very clearly called him to leave his church and start a ministry called "Disciple the Nations". He left his church (and all of the comforts...salary, insurance, housing allowance, etc....) and walked towards his calling. Through the years Mike and I have watched the Lord provide OVER and OVER for Tim's family. If we have said "UNBELIEVEBLE!" once, we have said it a dozen times. I don't know that I could have ever stepped out that first time in faith if I had not experienced the sovereignty of Christ through my brother.

To go back even a step further in time. Tim has ALWAYS been there for me. He took me hunting , trapping, and fishing my whole life. He has ALWAYS been a spiritual rock for me. He has shown me what a man of God looks like. The way he treated girls gave me a REALLY HIGH standard on what to strive for in a husband.....do you get the picture? Do you understand what he has meant to me my entire life? There are really just NOT enough words to describe my love for him.

fast forward to this past Friday afternoon....

A wife of noble character who can find?
She is worth far more than rubies.

11 Her husband has full confidence in her
and lacks nothing of value.

12 She brings him good, not harm,
all the days of her life.

13 She selects wool and flax
and works with eager hands.

14 She is like the merchant ships,
bringing her food from afar.

15 She gets up while it is still dark;
she provides food for her family
and portions for her servant girls.

16 She considers a field and buys it;
out of her earnings she plants a vineyard.

17 She sets about her work vigorously;
her arms are strong for her tasks.

18 She sees that her trading is profitable,
and her lamp does not go out at night.

19 In her hand she holds the distaff
and grasps the spindle with her fingers.

20 She opens her arms to the poor
and extends her hands to the needy.

21 When it snows, she has no fear for her household;
for all of them are clothed in scarlet.

22 She makes coverings for her bed;
she is clothed in fine linen and purple.

23 Her husband is respected at the city gate,
where he takes his seat among the elders of the land.

24 She makes linen garments and sells them,
and supplies the merchants with sashes.

25 She is clothed with strength and dignity;
she can laugh at the days to come.

26 She speaks with wisdom,
and faithful instruction is on her tongue.

27 She watches over the affairs of her household
and does not eat the bread of idleness.

28 Her children arise and call her blessed;
her husband also, and he praises her:

29 "Many women do noble things,
but you surpass them all."

30 Charm is deceptive, and beauty is fleeting;
but a woman who fears the LORD is to be praised.

31 Give her the reward she has earned,
and let her works bring her praise at the city gate.

These are the words that I had the AWESOME gift and opportunity to speak over my sweet sister-in-law. I first cupped her face in my hands and eye-to-eye told her what her life had meant to me. I wanted to affirm in her the godly example that she had been for any one person that has ever come in contact with her. She has preached in prisons and shared her heart about Christ time and time again with "the least of these". She is a warrior.

While laying in her hospital bed, I read this scripture over her, and washed her feet. I have never washed anyone's feet before, but I know it is a biblical way of humbling yourself and showing someone how special they are. I am not sure what cleansed them most, my tears or the water that I was using. Then I rubbed in some yummy smelling lotion, while I prayed and thanked God for her life. It was one of the highlights of my life and you could feel the Holy Spirit in every inch of that hospital room. It wasn't until I was through that I could even hear the sobs of my mother and brother....

These are the times when we get just a small glimpse of what heaven will be like....

He is Risen!

SOMEBODY LOVES their MOMMY!
take time to smell the flowers....

Josie Love and Auntie Dana

Josie and Asher, both home from the same children's home in Uganda...HOW SWEET IT IS!

The Lord's spirit has filled my soul more and more as each day passes. I marvel as I look at the family that I have been blessed with. I look into each and every face and could weep. Gwen being in Uganda, laying eyes on her children for the first time, just reminds me how fortunate I am to have them all here with me. I am so thankful for days like today that make me stop and reflect on what a miracle that Jesus Christ was, IS, and always will be. I am also grateful for "family days" so that we can take a step back and just be thankful. I had the best time watching all of my children get SO excited for Josie Love's first Easter at home! Each and every one celebrated this fun day with her in their own little unique way.

Gwen is in Uganda popping bon bons and I'm at home working my fingers to the bone....

Suzanne here.....

Gwen called, she made it to Uganda!!!!! She was sitting under her mosquito net getting ready for bed so that she can wake up and go touch her babies! YAYAYAY! Easter....hair, skin, dresses, shoes, eggs, baskets...OH MY!

I must admit that I am feeling really confident about keeping 147 Million Orphans up and running while Gwen is gone. I have my "to do" lists and I am checking things off one by one...SO proud of myself. You see, Gwen is the motor of 147, SHE NEVER TURNS OFF! I, on the other hand, am the artsy one that floats around, enjoys the quiet a little more, and I get things done in a timely manner but not the way Gwen does. She is able to keep her laptop open, refresh it and respond promptly and she just GETS IT DONE....so you get the picture. and BTW Gwen will be landing in Uganda in a few hours !! She will be laying eyes on her little ones for the first time while we are sleeping tonight...WHOOOOOP!

I had my "to do" list yesterday and was checking things off and then it dawned on me...this weekend is EASTER! So, I started calling my girlfriends that have been sent straight from heaven to help me with Josie Love's hair. "hello, do I need to make an appointment for Josie this week? Will they be booked? do you guys do this months in advance?!?"

you see, i have learned that is is SIGNIFICANT to keep the hair fixed and the skin
moisturized. It ain't nothin for an african american woman to walk up to me in Target
and give me pointers on what type of lotion to use or what type of hair product to
buy. the first thing that she does is feel Josie's hair and then starts educating....! In the beginning, when I first brought Joshua home I welcomed all of the advice that I could get. (and still do!) But with Josie Love, the Lord has given me "hair angels" to walk me through the gobs and gobs of hair that the child has. Sundays are special days. One must
have the hair smoothed down and skin shining. MANY a Sunday I have gone back AFTER Mike has already applied the lotion and smear on more....ask him! He laughs at me all of the time. This weekend is EASTER...EVEN MORE IMPORTANT.

Janetta, asked me what I wanted her hair to look like and I remembered Regan's (her little girls hair) a few months back and told her that that is how I wanted it and she said "girl, I can do that for you! There's no reason to pay to have that done." So, today we had "hair day" for Josie Love. Get this....I don't have to touch her hair for 2 weeks! AND, she didn't even put bands at the bottom of her twists and it will stay in! HOW IN THE WORLD DOES THAT WORK? Janetta says it will, and she's the "hair angel" so I am goin with it!
after her shampooing

combing out the tangles, Joshua and Regan decided to help...
Doesn't it look like shiny yarn?!?! So cute!

Could little Regan be ANY MORE beautiful?!?!

little sister is so proud! she is testing them out! she stood in front of that mirror and just grinned and grinned!

Thanks to sweet Janetta, I am not overwhelmed by Easter anymore and I can focus on what it is really about! HE HAS RISEN! HE HAS RISEN!! HE HAS RISEN INDEED!
