josie at the beauty shop

Today is Josie Love's birthday!! I got a sitter to keep my two little boys and what did Josie and I go do? WE WENT TO THE BEAUTY SHOP!! I have never taken her in to get her hair cut and styled because she has really good hair and it really hasn't needed it. As you will be able to see in the video, little sister was NOT happy with me while they were shampooing her hair.

Mike and I were talking about how fun it is to celebrate her life. A child that has never been celebrated, yet brings joy to everyone that she meets. I just wonder how many more there are? She sang "Happy Birthday" to herself all day long. She told Mike tonight "It's mine! It's mine! It's mine!" and when he asked "what is yours?" she answered "MY birthday!!" I bought her a little cupcake for her party tonight because we are celebrating again on Saturday night with family. (figure we might as well make up for lost time...huh?!)

As Josie and I walked out of a store today, I was stopped by an older gentleman. He asked "where is her country of origin?" and I answered "Uganda." His response: "I knew she wasnt from around here because black children from here don't walk with the confidence that she does!" and I said " well, you haven't seen my two little boys because they are from here and they sure have plenty of confidence!" It was at that moment that decided that Gwen is right...I DEFINITELY attract the "crazies!"

My cup is filled to the rim with love and joy for my sweet little angel. I am SO thankful that the Lord gave her to our family as a PRECIOUS PRECIOUS gift. I feel privileged to be able to celebrate her little life on her special day! We will NEVER be to her, ALL that she IS to us! We are truly blessed!

You know, Suz, as I thought off and on about Josie on her birthday and the joy surrounding it, I was also reminded of the pain that you and Mike chose to walk through prior to being able to see all the beauty God had in store. What an amazing picture of fellowshipping in the sufferings of Christ, who FIRST endured the pain of the cross and all of the loss and heartache that went with that....THEN getting to be raised again into victorious life! His story of redemption is so beautiful to see unfold in your lives! Love you all and love that little stinker!

I was just thinking about little Miss JL last night. I was putting Abby to bed and I said "how much does Mommy love Abby?" and she puts her arms up as I say "SO MUCH". I started to cry because it was a bitter sweet moment. I realized that at 11 months, Abby already knows how much her mommy loves her and I thought about JL and how she had to wait over 3 years, to have a mommy tell her how much she is loved. It made my heart break for all the other millions of children who desire to have a mommy (and a daddy) who love them. I can't wait to bring our next little one home, so one more will know that this mommy loves them "SO MUCH!" - Julie J.

Celebrate, celebrate, celebrate!!!! Happy Birthday, Josie!!!! Her crown and her smile are all the jewelry a girl needs. Gorgeous!!!!

This year, Dorothy finally "got it" with the birthday and it was AMAZING to enjoy her enjoying being celebrated. Last year, it was too close after coming home from India to make a big shindig of it. This year (Nov.), our small house was filled to the brim with 50 people who love her, and the love moves me to tears even these months later! Adoption changes the child, but I've seen a lot of grown adults changed by my one little girl. Praise GOD. It's all beautiful.
